Journey

An act of going from one place to another especially at a long distance.
The distance travelled or time required for this.
A trip or expedition from one place to another.
A gradual passing from one state to another regarded as more advanced, for example from innocence to mature awareness

Trip, voyage, passage, crossing, trek, go, drive, excursion, expedition, mission, tour

Physical Journey: A physical journey is the physical act of moving from point a to b. This type of journey does not directly propose emotional connotations along with it; rather these would be types of journeys that are experienced along with the physical journey. Physical is purely the act of the moving itself.

Inner Journey: Is one’s inner transformation from one ‘person’ to another. Inner journeys are directly linked to ones emotions, spirituality and what they learn on these journeys.

Imaginative Journey: Imaginative journeys are experienced in the mind. Imagined, or created these journeys can explore true social and dynamic issues, however in a format that is unreal and is not actually happening.

Example of texts: Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Star Trek, Spy Kids, The Life of Pi,  The Hunger Games, The Charge of The Light Brigade,
In fact most texts show an idea of some sort of journey, whether it be physical, inner or imaginative. This is what draws the reader in and allows them to connect with the characters. If a story had no journey, then the story would not go anywhere.

A catalyst begins the journey, the events in the middle can be expected or unexpected and, there is an ending or feeling of conclusion that will stop the journey.
